Knowledge on Road safety during flooding incidents is very important especially if a driver gets trapped in flood.

Just like this story featured by Lift Bump. San Diego, CA Flood

“Once out of the car, the water continued rushing around them. As a result, the pair had to cling to the closest object they could find — which happened to be the cross — until help arrived. They held on for five hours.”

Safety is a Must

A Man meanwhile clung on a tree for life after his car has been swept by raging flood waters.

The website Jalopnik featured the interview of the man.

“Unaware that he’s still in the tree, local KVUE anchors ask how Packer and his wife are doing. Packer goes details how the flood waters snuck up on him and swept him about half a mile, before jumping out of his window and climbing up a tree. ‘So I’m up about 20 feet in a tree right now,’ he adds.”

How to Survive

Australian News Website ABC meanwhile shared a survival guide on how to weather being trapped in a flooded car.

“He said a good quality life hammer should be kept in a part of the car close to the driver to break a side window in case the vehicle’s electrics failed. Drivers should aim to hit the corner of the window which is weaker than the centre, and use the hammer to push out the remaining glass. Alternatively, a mobile phone, laptop or keys could be used to break the glass.”
